Message from Sondra!

Hello boys and girls, Sondra here.  I hope you are all safe and well.  How are you doing? Please feel free to have your adults help you e-mail me back and let me know how things are going.

Caregivers, I am just checking in to see how the ELL work is going.  Please feel free to e-mail me or give me a call if you or your child are having difficulty with the work, if it's too much or too litle, if you are finding it too easy, or if everything is going well.

There are some videos on our website to help with some of the assignements.  You should be able to find them either in the Literacy tab (K-1 or Gr. 1-3) or under Sondra's ELL.  We may move things around on the sight so please be patient with us, we are trying to organize it to make things easier for you to access. Our website is: https://jeshaw3.wixsite.com/nusdehyoh, and you can access it through the Nusdeh Yoh website as well.

Please feel free to connect with me through the school number at 250 562-7201 or through e-mail at smcguire@sd57.bc.ca. Click on my link and come see my website!

The importance of doing fun learning at home! -For parents to read

This is something that is sent out by teachers to remind our students that learning at home during the summer is very important to ensure that they stay as smart as they were in June. This applies now with  the pandemic, with the virus known as COVID-19. Please look at this, to be encouraging to your very able child that to keep learning we need to practice our reading, our math, our social emotional development!

Stories that are read aloud enjoy!

Just Dance and Yoga, stay fit and have fun!

Have fun with a few of these videos! See how well you can keep up!

Fun Math programs!

This one is called mad minutes, you can set a timer, you can decide how many questions you want, you can decide how large the numbers are, and you can even decide if you want addition, subtraction, multiplication and division!

I recommend starting with 10 questions 1-12 with no timer using addition. If you can do that easily try doing it in 5 minutes, then 2, then 1. Still too easy, because you are wearing your smartie pants? Try up to 20, then do subtraction. Let me know how well you do! What's the hardest you can do? I'll have to think of a prize for those who challenge themselves!
